Ok, I've had this major problem for a while now and I don't think I'm the only one....shoe storage can be a PAIN!!!!! In my old home, my bedroom was big enough that I was able to put a shoe rack at the entrance. In our new home, I had to downgrade in personal living space and so I had no more room for my shoes.
I went online and found an under bed shoe organizer. I had seen that product on many sites before but in the end, ordered it from ebay. I was able to buy 3 packages on sale. Was SUPER excited, thought I had finally found a solution for my shoes. When I received the package, well.............it would have been an understatement to say that I was disappointed.
It's made out of cheap nylon that can be torn easily. It had a type of separator that was stitched to the sides but somehow not to the bottom :S. So yes, I could put in up to 12 pairs of shoes in different sections except as soon as I would lift the organizer, they would get all mixed up, basically like a garbage bag. The only good thing about that product was the transparent plastic cover and the handles (not that I could use them).
the product in question, as you can see the sides aren't even rigid :(
the separators are stitched to the sides but not the bottom
Fast forward to today, just got back from Dollarama (a popular chain here that sells all types of items that range from hygienic, to kitchen, to food and much much more. Products are mostly sold for one dollar, but they've now also added products for 2$ to increase the variety ....still affordable). GOD BLESS DOLLARAMA. Found plastic shoe boxes for 1,25$ CAD each.
Plastic Shoe Box for 1.25$ CAD
Here's what I did:
Removed the separators by simply cutting them
Put them shoes in them boxes
Put the boxes in the shoe "organizer"
When the cover is zipped
Put the organizers under my bed with the rest of my stuff
And "VoilĂ "!!!!! Problem solved!!
.....NEXT!!!!!
Ohhhh love what you did with the shoe organizer!!! you're such a brilliant grasshopper :)
